“In 2019, 38.5 million working days in the UK were lost due to stress, depression and anxiety or musculo-skeletal problems – over 30% of all days lost to sickness (Sickness and Absence in the UK Labour Market: 2021 www.ons.gov.uk)
WHY BOOK IN-WORK MASSAGE?
PROLONGED PERIODS SEATED AT A DESK, IN FRONT OF A COMPUTER TAKE A TOLL ON THE BODY IN THE LONG TERM.
Without intervention, this can adversely affect employee health, leading to diminished productivity, absence or ultimately career change decisions where employees go in search of a job that feels better for their physical and mental health.*
In-work massage treatments are a direct antidote to the build up of tension in the musculo-skeletal and nervous systems caused by prolonged sitting, standing, heavy lifting or other repetitive actions undertaken in the course of work.
Workplace massage provision represents a tangible, meaningful commitment on the part of the employer to ensuring employee health and wellbeing is an integral part of that company’s business.
On-site massage therapy is an accessible and cost effective way to improve employee retention and create a happier and more productive atmosphere in your place of work:
Calm, clear-headed employees who feel valued and cared for = better productivity and an improved working environment for all.
*(This was actually my own personal journey to becoming a massage therapist..!)
“Mental wellbeing is a dynamic state in which the individual is able to develop their potential, work productively and creatively and build strong and positive relationships with others” NICE Guidelines, www.gov.uk
HOW IT WORKS
BOOKING
In-Work Massage therapists can be booked on an ad-hoc or an ongoing basis.
Prior to the booking, we will send a short online medical history questionnaire to be completed by participants, to ensure treatments are modified where necessary to provide best quality of care to your employees.
One person can coordinate employees signing up for their treatment timeslots, and this information is provided to the therapist upon their arrival.
You can book more than one on-site massage therapist for the same session where there are higher staff numbers.
TIME
Individual treatments can be for any length of time. The longer the treatment, the better the results of course; to enable the employee to fully switch off and relax and thereby get optimum benefits from on-site chair massage and desk massage we recommend 15-20 minutes per treatment or longer.
It is also possible to do desk massage or chair massage treatments from 10 minutes when that fits the needs of the organisation: however, we believe this is best used as a ‘taster’, as part of a wellbeing day, for example: to achieve meaningful results, our experience is that 15 minutes is the minimum time.
SPACE
All our therapists need is a private space that is sized 3m x 2m minimum for chair massage or on-table treatments. This can be a meeting room or a quiet corner of an open-plan office .
We will bring all equipment needed on the day. For desk-based massage and desk-yoga, the therapist will move around your office space, and employees remain in their usual place of work.
Group yoga sessions can be performed in a meeting room or open space.
